I got a refusal from an agent. It was sent in the form of an email, and it was sent, wait for it, at ten-thirty on Friday evening. A standard blank ‘no’. Picture it: my agent-who-will-never-be, five gins in and sitting by her fireside having an ‘assassination evening’. By the time she got to me…. I wouldn’t mind a wager that my manuscript was never read – that she discovered something in my covering letter she didn’t like and used it as a reason to just bang the reject button?
The ejector seat.

  1. Been there. Done that. Everyone needs to get rejections. It’s part of the initiation. I’m not so sure I’ll ever be accepted into the “club.” But like a fool, I’ll keep trying. Let’s hope her gin was tasty. 🙂
